PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Pawtucket man has been arrested for carrying a pistol without a permit.

On Monday at approximately 2 a.m., an officer pulled over a car for a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Main and Brown Streets.

Police say the vehicle was occupied by three suspects, one of which fled abruptly as the car stopped. That suspect is currently the subject of a separate investigation.

Officers located a loaded handgun in the car. The driver, 20-year-old Nico Danielson, and a 16-year-old passenger were both taken into custody.

The juvenile was charged with a curfew violation.

Danielson was issued vehicle violations and he was also charged with carrying a pistol without a permit — a felony.

He was transported to district court for an arraignment.
