Walk to End Drunk Driving

Friends and Family of couple killed in Easter drunk driving crash walk to end drunk driving.

Providence, R.I. (WPRI) – Friends and family of couple killed in suspected drunk driving crash on Easter Sunday hold march in Providence to stop drunk driving.

Tiffany Sical and Brayan Rodriguez were killed Easter Sunday morning, after police say an intoxicated driver hit their car head-on. On Saturday their friends “walked” to honor their memory.

Dozens marched from the Providence District Courthouse to the State House in memory of the couple killed.

“We want to get the attention [of] the people, drunk driving isn’t the right thing to do,” Said Jario Loaiza, a cousin of Tiffany Sical.

21-year-old Sical and her fiancee, 23-year-old Rodriguez were killed on Route Six in Providence when a driver got on the road going the wrong way. They leave behind a five year old daughter. The other driver was charged with DUI and driving to endanger, but Sical’s family says the suspect’s arrest isn’t enough.

“When you drink and drive, you know, it shouldn’t be just taken lightly. There should be a higher consequence,” Said Sical’s cousin Genesis Conteras.

Before the march began supporters gathered on the street where many drivers honked at the crowd, supporting their efforts to stop drunk driving deaths.

Conteras said, “It can happen to anybody, and when it does happen to you, it’s too late to get the message out there, we’re trying to prevent any other family [from] going through this.

Tiffany Sical was laid to rest Saturday morning before the afternoon march. She and Rodriguez were getting married in September.
