EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) — The owner of an East Greenwich business faced a judge Friday on charges he sexually assaulted a female employee.
According to court documents obtained by Eyewitness News, Treven T. Leonard is accused of touching the female inappropriately on numerous occasions, as well as urging her to engage in sexual activity and pointing a knife at her chest.
Leonard, 30, of Narragansett, owns DiMare Seafood Marketplace on South County Trail. His alleged victim told police she had been waiting and busing tables there for about a week when the incidents started happening, court documents said.
According to court documents, Leonard allegedly told the victim “it’s not sexual harassment if you tell me to stop.” The alleged victim told police she replied, “yeah, stop.”
The restaurant was closed on Friday, with a sign on the door saying there was a “family emergency.”
Leonard was arraigned Friday on two counts each of second-degree sexual assault and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Police say he made bail, which was set at $25,000.
He was ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
