GLOCESTER, R.I. (WPRI) — A pair of Glocester teenagers were taken into custody on charges they broke into and stole items from Ponaganset High School.
Police responded to an alarm at the school at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday and found someone had gained entry by smashing a window in the back of the building. It was reported that several items were stolen from inside.
After reviewing surveillance video of the crime, police obtained a search warrant for the Dexter Saunders Road home of 18-year-old Devin Bucci.
According to police, investigators seized evidence that implicated Bucci and an unidentified juvenile in the case.
Police said they also found 20 aluminum letters and a sign that had been stolen from the school in prior incidents.
Bucci was arraigned on charges of larceny over $1,500, larceny under $1,500, breaking and entering with the intent to commit larceny, malicious damage to property, conspiracy and possession of a weapon on school grounds.
He was released on $5,000 bail and ordered not to trespass on the Ponaganset High School campus. He’s due back in court July 9.
The juvenile appeared in family court on the same charges, and was placed on home confinement pending a future court date.
