PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – State Troopers said one person was taken to the hospital after multi-car crash on I-95 Saturday night.
Sgt. John Charbonneau told Eyewitness News that at about 9 p.m., two vehicles were stopped in the breakdown lane just north of Lonsdale Avenue when they were struck from behind by a third vehicle.
The occupants of the first two vehicles were standing in the breakdown lane in front of the first vehicle when a third passing by veered, lost control, hit the second one and rolled over.
The impact pushed the second vehicle into the first, which then struck the people who were standing in the breakdown lane. Only one of the victims wanted to be taken to the hospital to be evaluated, Charbonneau said.
It’s not clear why the third vehicle lost control. The relationship between the people in the two stopped vehicles was also unknown.
No charges have been filed.
