WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Massachusetts man accused of raping a woman at gunpoint in Woonsocket went before a judge Thursday.
Reynaldo Rios appeared in Brockton District Court one day after he was arrested there as a fugitive from justice. He waived extradition and was sent back to Rhode Island to face a first degree sexual assault charge.
Rios, 36, of Dorchester, is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman at the Morin Heights housing complex on May 7. According to police, the two met on a dating website and the woman gave Rios her address.
After they met up, police said he put a gun to her head, threatened to kill her if she told anyone, then took her behind a dumpster and raped her.
Rios was transported to the Woonsocket Police Department, where he’ll be held until his arraignment Friday.
