PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A suspect accused in a Capital City shooting is expected to be arraigned in Providence District Court Thursday.
Providence police tell Eyewitness News, authorities arrested Joshua DeJesus in New York City Wednesday.
He was wanted in connection with a shooting on Gallup Street on March 9 that left Jacqueline Carabello, 41 of Providence, injured.
According to the police report, Carabello went to Gallup Street on March 9, 2015 with her son and his two friends to buy marijuana. As she waited in her car, police said someone opened fire on the vehicle – hitting Carabello in the face.
Carabello was able to drive herself to the hospital and survived the shooting.
She later identified DeJesus as the shooter. She told police DeJesus was dating her son’s ex-girlfriend and the two had previously exchanged threats.
DeJesus is charged with felony assault with a firearm.
He denies any involvement in the shooting.
