(WPRI) — Rhode Island college commencement weekend continued Sunday with new graduates from Providence College, Salve Regina University, and the University of Rhode Island.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate their accomplishments and watch the graduates accept their diplomas.
Sara Indish, a Burrillville native, graduated from Providence College and plans to teach vocal lessons. “It’s like the start of my life again. I have to start over. I’m just pretty excited.”
Qutaiba Albluwi, the University of Rhode Island Chaplain from the Muslim Community of Kingston, spoke to graduates during the ceremony in Kingston.
“You faced all types of waves but you smartly adjusted your navigation. Your boats were challenged with various storms, but your sails of patience and determination were stronger.”
Graduation weekend began Saturday with commencement ceremonies at Bryant University, Roger Williams University, and Rhode Island College.
According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers most recent statistic, employers are looking to hire almost ten percent more recent graduates this year than last.
