Man shot, another injured in separate incidents in the capital city

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police confirm that they are investigating a pair of separate incidents that sent two people to the hospital.

Providence police said a man was shot in the back around 11:30 p.m. Monday night near Glenbridge and Manton Avenues. The victim was listed in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital.

Police are also still trying to determine exactly what happened in a second incident that occurred near Elmwood Avenue and Sawyer Street.

A man crashed his car around 2 a.m. Tuesday. Witnesses said they heard gunshots shortly before the crash, but it remains unclear if he was shot at.

The violence comes a day after the capital city’s sixth homicide of the year, where police found the body of 25-year-old Luis Arturo Padilla.

There was also gunfire on Potters Avenue Monday afternoon. No one was injured.
