Multiple reports of shots fired in Providence, 1 man hurt

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Providence police are investigating after a man was shot in the leg amidst several reports of shots being fired.

Police told Eyewitness News that the victim was playing cards inside a building at 472 Smith Street when someone fired a shot from outside the building. The bullet struck the victim in the lower leg and a friend drove him to Roger Williams Hospital. His name was not released Sunday morning.

At roughly the same time, police were dispatched to 370 Orms Street for a report of shots-fired; officers found numerous shell casings on the street in front of a home a well as bullet holes in the structure. Nobody was hurt.

About an hour later, police returned to the Orms Street address for another report of gunfire but again, nobody was hurt.

Police haven’t yet said if the shootings are connected.
