PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Pawtucket woman is recovering after police say she was stabbed in an attack by two people who broke into her apartment Monday morning.

Police were called to an apartment on Orth Street, near Columbus Avenue, about 8:30 a.m. The woman told police she’d heard a noise in another room in the apartment, and went to see what it was.

A man and woman confronted her, with one of them hitting her and then stabbing her.

The attackers then ran from the home — it is unclear if there was a prior relationship between the three individuals.

Rescue crews took the woman to Rhode Island Hospital. Her injuries are considered not life-threatening.

Police ask anyone who may have information related to the home invasion and attack to call them at (401) 727-9100, and to ask for Detective Raymond Doran or Detective Robert Cardente.
