PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)- First responders in the capital city put their skills to the test Wednesday morning during the annual evacuation drill at the Port of Providence.
The main goal of the drill is to test the current emergency evacuation plan for the Port of Providence. Commercial businesses in the nearby area also tested their evacuation plans.
The drill lasted for one hour. First responders activated the Port Sirens Warning System and the Emergency Notification System during this time. Residents were warmed ahead of time that sirens would go off at 10 a.m. and last for several minutes.
