PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — This week’s Cardi’s Hometown Sports Hero is La Salle’s Jack Salisbury.
The junior finished third in a field of the best high school distance runners in the boys mile at the Prefontaine Classic, establishing a new PR of 4:06.
The honor just the latest achievement in an record-setting year for Salisbury. In the fall, the harrier was part of the Rams’ State and New England Cross Country championship teams, which advanced to New Balance Nationals.
Indoors, Jack won the 1,000 and 1,500 state titles before helping La Salle take home the 4XMile National Championship.
This weekend, Salisbury will aim to help the Rams bring home their first outdoor title in 37 years.
