Child injured in South Kingstown bicycle accident

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A 12-year-old boy was injured after riding his bike into a moving vehicle Wednesday, police said.

According to South Kingstown Police Capt. Joel Ewing-Chow, the boy was crossing the road on his bike at the intersection of Church and Columbia Streets at approximately 2:20 p.m., when he struck a moving vehicle.

Police said the victim received non-life threatening injuries to his head.

According to Ewing-Chow, the incident is still under investigation and there is no indication that alcohol or speed played a factor in the crash.

At this time, police say they are not pursing any charges.
