PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Providence are investigating a stabbing.

According to a police report, officers were called to a fire house at 426 Admiral Street around 6:25 a.m. Saturday for a report of a stabbing.

Police said the arriving officers identified the victim, Veronique Fernandez, who was being tended to by rescue personnel.

Fernandez told police she was walking back to a friend’s house on Grape Street when a man wearing a hood approached her.
