PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence Police patrol car was involved in a crash early Saturday morning.
According to a police report, an SUV collided head-on with a police cruiser at the intersection of Elmwood Avenue and Broad Street around 12:30 a.m. The cruiser suffered damage to its front end and hood.
Police said the driver of the SUV, identified as Germaine Bruce, was driving in the wrong direction in the opposite lane.
According to the report, the responding officer observed an open bottle of Hennessy in the front seat of the car. Police said marijuana was also seized from the car.
Bruce was taken into custody at the scene after failing a field sobriety test.
He is charged with DUI, among other charges.
