Providence, R.I. – Rhode Island College freshman center fielder Brad Douglas and sophomore catcher Tyler Rains have both signed temporary contracts to play in the New England Collegiate Baseball League this summer. Douglas signed with The Ocean State Waves, while Rains signed with the Newport Gulls.
As a freshman in 2015, Douglas played in 32 games, starting all of them. He batted .400 (50-for-125) with 50 hits, five doubles, nine RBI, 14 walks and 31 runs scored. Douglas owned a .440 slugging percentage, .469 on-base percentage and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He ranked second on the team in at-bats, hits, walks and slugging percentage. For his efforts, Douglas was named the Little East Conference Co-Rookie of the Year.
As a sophomore in 2015, Rains played in 13 games, starting 12 of them. He batted .128 (5-for-39) with five hits, three RBI, five walks and four runs scored. He owned a .128 slugging percentage, .244 on-base percentage and a .989 fielding percentage.
