PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)- Three Providence men have been sentenced for their roles in the October 2014 armed robbery of the Shop n’ Go store on Union Avenue in Providence.
24-year-old Charles Gibbons was sentenced to 41 years in prison with 21 years to serve. 22-year-old Donnie Hall was sentenced to 39 years in prison with 19 to serve. 22-year-old Juan Young was sentenced to 18 years in prison with 8 to serve.
The 3 men pleaded guilty to entering the Union Avenue store armed with guns and demanding cash from the store’s owner. The 3 got away with approximately $500 and cigarettes. The store’s owner followed the suspects in his car to Huntington Avenue in Cranston. Officials say Gibbon exited the car and fired his gun at the store’s owner before fleeing the scene again. The store’s owner was not injured.
