PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Nearly a dozen guns have been taken off Providence streets in the last week.
Providence police say they seized 11 firearms following an investigation that began at a home in Pawtucket last Friday. Police said Angel Franco was selling firearms and had large amounts of drugs sent to his home. Police arrested Franco, as well as his son, Angel Franco, Jr., on several charges.
Police also arrested Juan Lajara, Thomas Lumpkins, and Trenton Keith over the last several days as part of their investigation.
“Providence is fortunate to have such a capable and distinguished police department. I commend recent efforts to keep illegal guns off of our streets. Residents, businesses and visitors can be assured that our commitment to keeping this city safe will not waiver,” said Mayor Jorge Elorza
“These incidents are all examples of the challenges that the members of the Providence Police Department are faced with every day involving gangs, drugs, and firearms. I commend all of our dedicated officers who are committed to protecting this city and its residents,” said Col. Hugh T. Clements, Jr.
