Warwick woman: Pet that died suddenly connected to animal cruelty suspect

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) —  A Warwick woman claims she arranged to buy a parrot through a group on Facebook in November, and Jake Brousseau, who was arrested on animal cruelty charges this week, was with the people who dropped the bird off at her home.

Lynn Nardolillo told Eyewitness News she paid cash for the parrot and a cage, and within 12 hours her new pet was dead.

She said the bird’s behavior was not normal when it arrived at her home.

“It was breathing heavy. And when I questioned her, she said it was scared and it would calm down once it was there. We put it in our room for the night. The next morning, I went to the pet store and on the way I got a phone call saying ‘come back, the bird passed away,” Nardolillo explained.

Nardolillo also said she contacted the SPCA and the police after the bird died, but has not heard back regarding the investigation.

She said she paid about $700 for the parrot and bird cage.
