FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — It has been only eight days since the New England Patriots cut the recently-signed linebacker, but Brandon Spikes has sold his 2011 AFC Championship ring after, coincidentally, the Patriots just received their Super Bowl rings for defeating the Seattle Seahawks.
Spikes, who was looking to make his second stint with the team, was cut by the Patriots when Massachusetts State Police said they found a car registered to Spikes was found abandoned on the highway in Foxboro related to a hit-and-run accident.
The 2011 AFC Championship ring surfaced on eBay and was sold for $19,499.
Spikes, 27, faces charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, operating a motor vehicle negligently to endanger, speeding and failure to stay within marked lanes.
He referenced his four-year tenure with the Patriots on Twitter last year to the movie “12 Years a Slave.”
Although, before signing last month with the team he claimed the two sides kissed and made up.
“We can clearly see me and The Hoodie [Coach Bill Belichick} have kissed and made up. I’m here and I’m moving on,” Spikes said on May 29. “That’s in the past; that’s dead.”
