CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) – The Central Falls Police Department has been awarded a legislative grant for its community policing program.
The $5,000 grant will specifically be used to help for the department’s bicycle squad.
The department told Eyewitness News getting officers out of their cruisers is especially important during the summer months.
Major Daniel Barzykowski said “There’s going to be a lot of kids on the streets as soon as school ends, so this gives us an opportunity to be out there talking to them, engaging them, making sure they’re safe.”
State Representative Shelby Maldonado helped secure the grant money for the department.
