Bristol police officer laid to rest

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Family and friends said goodbye to a Bristol police officer who died unexpectedly while on vacation.

A wake was held in Warwick Thursday night for Officer Richard Jean-Georges. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Christian Hill Community Church on Tiogue Avenue in West Warwick, before he was laid to rest at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown.

Jean-Georges’ body was found off the coast of Costa Rica earlier this month. Officials said he was swimming while on vacation and was swept into a rip current.

A GoFundMe.com page has been set up to help Officer Richard Jean-Georges’ family.
