PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The City of Providence is gearing up for a busy weekend.
Between the Rhode Island Pridefest on Saturday and Father’s Day, restaurants and hotels are seeing an uptick in business.
Tourism officials tell Eyewitness News that most of the city’s hotels are either full or nearing capacity — and this is just the beginning of what is expected to be a successful and busy summer season.
“July and August are shaping up to be great months for us, we have several meetings and sporting events that’ll bring about $20 million into Rhode Island,” said Kristen Adamo of the Conventions and Visitors Bureau.
Eyewitness News has learned that the July 4th weekend could be the busiest yet in 2015 — as the city welcomes over 9,000 people for the North American Irish Step Dancing Championship.
Providence’s popular Restaurant Week also draws a large crowd in July.
