RIPTA route changes, beach buses start Sat.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — RIPTA is making several changes to bus routes starting tomorrow, including those related to the summer.

Route 67 in Newport is extending daily service to the Cliff Walk and the southern end of Bellevue Avenue, as well as adding an Easton’s Beach stop.

With changes to Route 63 Broadway/Middletown, route 62 Oxbow/Towne Center is being discontinued.

Express weekend service to the South County beaches also starts Saturday. Buses will start at the Woonsocket Depot, Cranston City Hall, 400 Dexter Street in Central Falls, North Providence City Hall, and the Pawtucket Transit Center, stop at Kennedy Plaza (except for Central Falls and Pawtucket-departing buses), and go to Salty Brine, Roger Wheeler and Scarborough beaches. The beach bus fare is the regular fare of $2.00 one-way.

RIPTA also points out daily year-round service is available from Kennedy Plaza to the beaches on Route 66.
