Suspects sought in New Bedford robbery attempt, theft

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — New Bedford police are working to identify a pair of suspects in two crimes at a city gas station.

According to police, the two men attempted to rob the Sunoco station near the intersection of Acushnet Avenue and Phillips Road at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, but left empty-handed.

Investigators believe the same two suspects returned to the store around the same time Tuesday morning and stole merchandise. Police did not specify what was taken.
