EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — East Providence police have identified a city resident that was killed in a fire last week.
According to police, 67-year-old Linda Bergeron perished after flames broke out inside her Fenmoor Avenue home at about 3:30 a.m. June 17.
The woman lived at the home with her son and golden retriever. Her son was not home at the time, but the dog died along with Bergeron.
Two firefighters were injured while battling the flames. One suffered a fractured ankle, while the other injured his elbow.
The cause of the fire has not been revealed.
