EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) — Racial propaganda flyers were left outside homes in several neighborhoods, East Greenwich police said Wednesday.
According to a police report, the flyers were found Tuesday morning at the end of driveways on Cora Street, Phillips Road, Lebaron Drive, and Grand View Road. It’s believed they were dropped off overnight.
Retired police officer Don Mong said he took his dog out for a walk, and found a plastic bag with a flyer inside at the end of his driveway.
One flyer had the words “#White Lives Matter” at the top, while another read “Earth’s most endangered species: the white race.” Police said the plastic bags were weighed down with rocks.
“It’s something you don’t see everyday. I’ve lived here for 30 years and I’ve never seen something like that,” Mong said. He said he thinks whoever is responsible for the flyers tossed them out the window while driving down the street.
According to a police report obtained by Eyewitness News, no laws were broken.
“There’s a lot of people on the street and they don’t need to deal with it and I know for my experience it’s something the police need to be aware of,” Mong said.
And to make matters more interesting, not every house on the street received the flyers — only a couple did.
