Rainy conditions may have contributed to Rehoboth pedestrian crash

REHOBOTH, Mass. (WPRI) — Police in Rehoboth are investigating after a woman was struck by a car.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a crash in the area of 450 Winthrop Street at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, officers reported finding a 30-year-old woman lying in the road.

Police said the victim, later identified as Holly Elizabeth Boysen, of Rehoboth, was struck by a car as she was crossing Winthrop Street. She was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle, 51-year-old Eileen Gallagher, remained at the scene until authorities arrived and is fully cooperating with investigators.

Police said the roadway was unlit and rainy weather conditions may have been a factor in the crash.

Sunday morning police said Boysen was in stable condition.

The accident remains under investigation.
