New Bedford man to be arraigned in heroin drug bust

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Police arrested a man Monday evening after witnessing a suspected drug deal on Clifford Street in New Bedford.

The Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau set up surveillance in the area of Ashley Boulevard and Clifford Street when they took 31-year-old Henry Catanho into custody.

Police obtained a warrant finding 61 grams of heroin and $325 in cash in his Clifford Street apartment.

The suspect had previously been convicted on drug charges back in 2008.

Catanho will be arraigned Tuesday in New Bedford District Court on charges of drug trafficking and distribution.
