Hula Hoop Dance and more FREE fitness classes

The Fitness in the Parks series has returned for the third year in a row.

Throughout the city of Providence, various parks will host FREE fitness classes from now through the end of August.

Classes range from yoga, to strength and conditioning, and even hula hoop dance. Jessica ‘Stylz’ Cohen, a Hula Hoop Dance Fitness Instructor, showed off some signature moves.

Fitness in the Parks began and has become a true community collaboration between non-profits like the YMCA and for profits, along with the City of Providence’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Healthy Communities Office to bring and offer free and amazing programming to our Providence parks.

Providence Mayor Elorza fully supports the program and wants to be the fittest city in New England. This summer they’ve partnered up with his office to launch the Mayor’s Fitness Challenge #GimmeFiveParks. They’re challenging people to attend and participate in five fitness classes at five different parks.
