FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A jury has convicted a 52-year-old Taunton man of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for attacking another man in January 2014.
Max Charles was sentenced Wednesday to six and a half years in a Massachusetts state prison, according to the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn.
The 47-year-old victim had told the jury Charles stabbed him because he owed Charles money. Charles called the victim to his home on Taunton Green, and when he arrived he stabbed the man in the head with a knife, then pinned the man up against a wall and slowly pushed the knife into the man’s chest.
The victim managed to escape and was found by police on School Street. Charles was arrested that same day.
