TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — Police are investigating a double shooting that took place in Taunton overnight.

A police officer on scene told Eyewitness News the shooting happened on the railroad tracks in the area of Plain Street around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The victims were found in different locations. The officer said one of the victims ran away from the tracks, while the other stayed.

Police later identified the victims as 19-year-old Devin Shiverdecker of Taunton and 22-year-old Brandon Brown of Boston. Brown was released from Rhode Island Hospital, while Shiverdecker was admitted.

Police do not have any suspects in the case, and continue to investigate.

Members of the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s Search and Rescue unit arrived on scene Wednesday to assist Taunton police with the investigation and the search for evidence.

A person who lives near the scene said her parents heard five gunshots. She said Wednesday morning’s shooting was the third in the area in recent weeks.
