EAST PROVIDENCE, (WPRI) – This week on the first half of Newsmakers: Dr. David Dooley, President of the University of Rhode Island. State financial support has been on the rise for URI, but Dr. Dooley discusses how he’d like to see funding increased and why. He also provides an update on the plan to build a life science center on the land relocated by route 195, the nursing school at the South Street Power station and the recent move to arm campus police.
On the second half of Newsmakers John Marion – the Executive Director of Common Cause Rhode Island – grades the state on transparency and talks about the abrupt end to the 2015 legislative session. He also gives the pros and cons to Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea’s call to move the state primary earlier in the year.
