UMass Dartmouth receives anonymous $250K gift

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) — An anonymous donor has given a quarter of a million dollars to UMass Dartmouth in honor of a Texas student who passed away shortly after earning his degree online.

The $250,000 gift will fund the Ryan Reaves Memorial Scholarship, which will support online undergraduate students at UMass Dartmouth.

Reaves died last December after finishing his degree requirements. He graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Liberal Arts and was honored during the university’s 2015 commencement ceremonies.
