Health officials close two beaches to swimming, reopen two others

Oakland Beach, Warwick

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — State health officials have reopened two beaches to swimming, but were also prompted to close two others.

The Department of Health recommended Thursday that Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick and Warren Town Beach close to swimming after high bacteria counts were found in the water.

Officials said they’ll continue to monitor the water quality and reopen those beaches once they’re safe for swimming.

In doing so, the agency determined the bacteria levels are within acceptable limits at City Park and Oakland Beaches in Warwick and reopened both to swimming.
