Tonight’s ‘Movie in the Park’ moved to next month

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Due to concerns about potential weather, organizers have postponed tonight’s (7/30) showing of “Happy Feet” at Rocky Point.

Instead, the movie has been rescheduled for August 25 – with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. and the movie beginning at dusk.

For those who don’t want to wait that long, “Finding Nemo” is also scheduled to play on August 30.

The Movies in the Park series started this summer by the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce.

Organizers say guests can enjoy the breathtaking view of Narragansett Bay,  find a spot on the grassy field – which was once the mid-way of Rocky Point Amusement Park – and watch a family friendly movie under the stars.

Food trucks are present for each movie and admission is free.

Organizers say alcohol is not permitted and urge moviegoers to take their trash with them when they go.

WPRI 12 and Fox Providence are proud media sponsors of the Movies in the Park series.
