3 accidents in Attleboro temporarily close down I-95

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — A serious crash in Attleboro closed down all three lanes near Exit 2B on I-95.

The multi-car crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on the southbound side after a reported rollover, while at least two other crashes occurred on the northbound side.

The scene was clear for a short time, but is backed up again after another incident in the area.

Reports of a medical emergency on I-95 South near Exit 3 has backed up traffic into Pawtucket. Drivers should avoid this area and find an alternative route.

According to the Sun Chronicle, five people were injured and two victims that were trapped had to be freed by firefighters using the Jaws of Life.

Traffic was detoured to Route 1 as some emergency vehicles needed to reach the accident going up the wrong way of a highway ramp.

The other crashes are said to be from a car hitting a guardrail and another car that was overturned.

The northbound side has one lane blocked.
