NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — The New Bedford School District has put crossing guards back into its budget.
The district plans to hire 20 crossing guards, officials say, and $59,000 has been set aside to place the guards at some schools this fall.
The money was taken from the district’s transportation budget, according to officials.
Now, the district says it is working with the city’s police department to determine the best locations to station the crossing guards.
