Man sentenced to federal prison for trafficking crack cocaine

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Central Falls man has been sentenced to 150 months in federal prison for trafficking more than 90 grams of crack cocaine, U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha announced Thursday.

According to a news release, Richard Palmisano, 41, was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release after he completes his prison sentence. Officials said he pleaded guilty in February.

ATF agents and Central Falls Police detectives initiated an investigation into Palmisano in 2014, officials said.

According to court documents, an undercover ATF agent purchased crack cocaine from Palmisano five times between April and July of 2014.

Additionally, officials said a court-authorized search of his home resulted in the seizure of 31 grams of crack cocaine.

Palmisano, a career offender, has a criminal history dating back more than 20 years, authorities said. He has previous convictions for drug trafficking, firearms and assault charges.
