Police: Suspect wore shower cap during New Bedford robbery

A sketch of the suspect was released by New Bedford Police.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — New Bedford police say they are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a woman in July.

According to police, a woman reported being assaulted and robbed in the early morning hours of July 17. The victim told police the man took her cell phone in the area of William Street and Acushnet Avenue.

Police say the man was wearing a shower cap on his head at the time of the incident.

Detectives released a sketch of the man Thursday.

The case is currently under investigation and police say they have a few leads.
