NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Police in New Bedford say they’ve arrested a man following a chase in a stolen car.

Authorities say an officer tried to stop the 2014 Honda Accord on Route 18 Saturday night. It had been reported stolen out of Mendon, Massachusetts. However, the driver took off. The people in the car eventually ditched it on Mill Street. The vehicle rolled into another parked car, causing some minor damage.

Police were able to arrest Erick Amado, 21, of New Bedford. Investigators say he was the passenger in the car.

He’s been charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Police say they’re still looking for a man and woman who fled the car, and are working to identify them.
