Q&A: Dan McGowan on upcoming Providence firefighter meeting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Next week, the Providence City Council wants to hold a closed-door meeting about a lawsuit filed against the city.

According to officials, the lawsuit was filed by the Providence firefighters because of new schedule changes –  Mayor Jorge Elorza’s plan to require firefighters to work an average of 56 hours per week

The new platoon changes have already been in place for almost a month – and the meeting would discuss the city’s legal strategy.

The meeting is scheduled for September 8.
