ESPN suspends Schilling for remainder of MLB season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Curt Schilling will not provide analysis on ESPN for the remainder of the MLB season, the network announced Thursday.

In a statement, ESPN said Schilling’s actions were not handled professionally and “have obviously not reflected well on the company.”

The network removed Schilling from its broadcast of the Little League World Series last week because of an anti-Muslim tweet.

Schilling has worked as a baseball analyst for ESPN since 2010.

At all times during the course of their engagement with us, our commentators are directly linked to ESPN and are the face of our brand. We are a sports media company. Curt’s actions have not been consistent with his contractual obligations nor have they been professionally handled; they have obviously not reflected well on the company. As a result, he will not appear on ESPN through the remainder of the regular season and our Wild Card playoff game.”
