Volunteers needed for Save the Bay

Volunteers pick up trash for the International Coastal Cleanup, September 2015. (WPRI-TV)

People from all over the world come down to participate in The International Coastal Cleanup. It is the world’s largest volunteer effort for our ocean and waterways.

The collection of trash removed from the shores and what they find is documented and published in an annual report on marine debris by the Ocean Conservancy.

On average, more than 2,000 volunteers participate annually in the Rhode Island ICC from more than 80 sites, removing about 20,000 pounds of debris.

If you want to get involved with the cleanup on September 19th sign up on the online form! For more information on the cleanup efforts visit Savebay.org.
