PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Two men are charged in car break-ins in Pawtucket after they were spotted in the wee hours of Tuesday in a vehicle.

An officer patroling Eaton Street about 2:45 a.m. saw a person wearing dark clothing cross Greenslit Avenue heading towards Waterman Avenue.

When the officer saw the dome light was on in a black 2007 Chevy parked on Greenslit Avenue, he activated his vehicle’s spotlight.

Caught in the beam, police said, were Jovante Palin and Casey Robbins in the driver’s and passenger’s seats, both wearing black hooded sweatshirts with hoods up, and obviously jolted by the appearance of the officer.

The officer detained both men, and determined they were in the car trying to steal items from it.

Later, at one of the men’s homes, detectives found items believed stolen from other cars in the city.

Palin is charged with two counts of larceny as well as a count of attempted larceny and ‘injury or tampering with vehicle.’

Robbins is charged with attempted larceny and ‘injury or tampering with vehicle.’
