FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A Massachusetts judge has turned down a request for a new trial in the Aaron Hernandez case.
Lawyers for the former New England Patriot claimed that jurors improperly discussed the murder trial outside of the court, according to The Sun Chronicle.
The office of the jury commissioner received a completed questionnaire the night after Hernandez was found guilty of murdering semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
The judge dismissed the defense’s motion for a retrial, stating that the survey is anonymous on the jury commissioner’s website, and that anyone could have filled out the survey.
Hernandez remains behind bars for life in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd.
