Road closures in effect for Woonsocket’s Autumnfest

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A traffic advisory has been issued in Woonsocket due to the upcoming Autumnfest.

According to the Woonsocket Police Department, amusement rides for this year’s festival will be placed on the vacant lot at the end of Laundry Street. During the festival, the police department is anticipating heavy pedestrian passage from World War II Park across East School Street for the rides.

As a result, part of East School Street in front of the park will be closed.

Autumnfest will run from:

  • Friday, October 9th, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 10th, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 11th, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Monday, October 12th, 11:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.

The closure will begin at the start of each day for the entire event. Officials say the road will reopen at the end of each day.

According to police, local and business traffic will be allowed on the westerly side of the road near Pond Street and on the easterly side near Elbow Street.
