JAMESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Bridge and Turnpike Authority will be closing lanes on the Jamestown Bridge in the upcoming weeks due to infrastructure repairs.
According to the organization, the repairs will begin on Tuesday, October 13 and will continue until Tuesday, November 24. Officials say the construction will require periodical closures on both the eastbound and westbound sides of the bridge. The closures will take place during non-commuter hours, RIBTA said.
Construction will also require a permanent closure on the eastbound, inside high speed lane beginning on Monday, October 19 until Sunday, October 25.
According to RIBTA, “the construction on the Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge is the result of findings within the 2015 Biennial Bridge Inspection. The construction work being completed will include replacing steel hatches and concrete repair on the bridge deck, replacing drainage troughs, repairing expansion joints, and repairing damaged guard rails.”
