Man dies after being pulled into wood chipper

STONINGTON, Conn. (WPRI) — A freak accident has claimed the life of a man just over the Rhode Island border in Stonington, Conn.

Police said the man was killed Thursday afternoon when he was pulled into a wood chipper on North Anguilla Road, in the Pawcatuck section of town.

Officers responded to the scene at about 3 p.m. and the man was found deceased upon arrival.

The victim has been identified as 72-year-old Nicholas M. Reardon of Stonington. He’s the owner of Landscape Unlimited, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation, but police said it appears to have been an accident.
